Few instruments achieve the sort of reverence that the Gibson ES-335 has. Designed to live in the sonic space between solidbody guitars like the Les Paul and a hollowbody, the ES-335 captured the warmth of the latter while being less prone to feedback like the former. This made the ES-335 and its kin popular with players from nearly every style as rock and roll continued its evolution into the 1960s.
From the Gibson Vault, this stunning 1961 ES-335TD has a beautifully aged Sunburst finish and is in all-original condition with the exception of correct double-ring reproduction tuners (the original tuners are also included). The one-piece mahogany neck has a Brazilian rosewood fretboard and a 1961 SlimTaper profile. Two original Patent Applied For humbucker pickups provide exactly the kind of open, warm, clear tone for which theyre famed.
The guitar shows some lacquer checking and light play wear throughout, particularly around the f-holes, and there are some chips on the corners of the headstock. It includes its original black Gibson hardshell case with yellow interior.
Availability Date: The purchased instrument will be available for pickup at the Gibson Garage in Nashville, or shipment to an address in the US, starting May 30, 2024.
