The Gibson Hummingbird was first introduced in 1960 and was the first square shoulder acoustic guitar model in the Gibson catalog. It arrived at the dawn of a new era in music and has been seen in the hands of many players since then, including Keith Richards and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Eric Church, J Mascis, Joe Bonamassa, Gillian Welch, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, Steve Wariner, Dan Auerbach, and many more. Much of the Hummingbirds appeal lies in its versatility. Now, Epiphone, in collaboration with Gibson Custom, is proud to introduce the 1960 Hummingbird Reissue, an Inspired by Gibson Custom recreation of those iconic first-year Hummingbirds. This gorgeous acoustic guitar has a thermally aged solid spruce top that is reinforced with traditional scalloped X-bracing made from quarter-sawn, solid spruce. The back and sides of the 1960 Hummingbird Reissue are made from solid mahogany. It delivers a warm, rich tone overall that works extraordinarily well in a wide range of musical styles. The one-piece, thermally-aged, 24.75 scale mahogany neck has a Rounded profile that is capped with a bound rosewood fretboard that is outfitted with 20 standard frets and adorned with mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays.
The 1960 Hummingbird features all of the ornamentation that makes the vintage originals instantly recognizable. The body features multi-ply top and back binding. The belly up rosewood bridge plate is equipped with a compensated bone saddle, and the nut and bridge pins are also bone. The pickguard features the legendary Hummingbird shape and engraved artwork design. On the headstock, gold-plated Epiphone Deluxe tuners with green Keystone buttons help ensure solid tuning stability so you can spend more time playing and less time looking at an electronic tuner. The headstock features a two-ply black and white truss rod cover, and the Epiphone logo and Gibson Crown are inlaid in aged mother-of-pearl. The headstock features a Gibson-style open book profile with the Inspired by Gibson Custom double diamond logo etched on the rear.
