The Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as a no-frills, workhorse solidbody with a pair of P-90 pickups and a slab mahogany body finished in limed mahoganybetter known as TV Yellow. It quickly found favor with players who valued its punchy tone, stripped-down aesthetics, and rock-solid reliability.
This Gibson Certified Vintage 1956 Les Paul Special is a clean and mostly all-original example, with light nicks and dings throughout, minimal playwear, and light, even checking across the entire instrument. It has been expertly refretted by Gibson Repair and Restoration with medium frets. The original tuners had shrunken buttons and were replaced with a set of aged Kluson three-on-a-plate tuners; the originals are included in the case. Nice, clean, and totally classicthis is a textbook example of a mid-50s Les Paul Special.
