The ES-175 debuted in 1949 and quickly became a go-to for jazz guitarists. By the late 50s, the ES-175D (two-pickup, natural finish) variant had become a staple for players who wanted warm, articulate tone with refined styling and versatile controls.
This Gibson Certified Vintage 1960 ES-175D is a beautiful blonde example from early in the year. It primarily features 1959 specs, most notably the neck profile and gold Top Hat knobs. Light playwear and uniform checking give it a gently worn-in feel. A strap button was added to the shoulder, resulting in a single crack that has been professionally repaired by Gibson Repair & Restoration. The original bridge and tailpiece were replaced with a vintage-correct Bigsby B3 vibrato and aluminum Bigsby bridge and base. This guitar has become a favorite of the team here at Gibson as it looks, feels, and plays the way you hope a vintage guitar is going to when you open an old case. Includes a 1950s brown and pink ES-175 Stone case.
