The flat-top Southern Jumbo has long been a favorite of artists of every stripe, from Woody Guthrie and Kris Kristofferson to Sheryl Crow. This 1962 Sunburst model from the Gibson Garage Vault has the original round-shouldered body style (the Southern Jumbo switched to a square-shouldered body later in 1962) and features a thin, early-60s era SlimTaper neck with split parallelogram inlays and original frets.
This guitar has been lovingly played but not abused. It shows signs of playwear, including light scratches throughout, as well as a few bumps and bruises and a cleated crack running from the bridge to the center rosette. It was never drilled for a second strap button and still has its original tuners. It includes a 1970s-era Gibson hardshell case with black Tolex exterior and purple velvet interior lining.
Availability Date: The purchased instrument will be available for pickup at the Gibson Garage in Nashville, or shipment to an address in the US, starting May 30, 2024.
