Introduced in 1947, the Gibson J-50 quickly became a favorite for singer-songwriters and session players alike thanks to its natural finish, slope-shouldered design, and clear, balanced tone. By the mid-1960s, the model had adopted an adjustable saddleadding a modern twist to a classic formula without compromising its warm, woody voice.
This Gibson Certified Vintage 1964 J-50 ADJ is a beautifully clean example with almost no playwear and attractive checking throughout. The guitar recently underwent comprehensive maintenance through Gibson Repair & Restoration, including a new solid maple bridge plate, a plane and re-fret with medium jumbo fretwire, a new bone nut, and a reglued pickguard with minor shrinkage. Structural repairs include a stabilized side crack on the bass side with four added side braces, a reglued bridge, and a stabilized neck block.
It sounds great, feels great, and is ready for another 60+ years of music-making. This J-50 comes with a Lifton Historic black and goldenrod hardshell case.
