The Riviera was Epiphones answer to the Gibson ES-335. It was built in the same Kalamazoo factory with identical materials and construction techniques, but outfitted with mini humbuckers and a Frequensator tailpiece for added tonal personality. By the mid-60s, it had earned its reputation as one of the most versatile and underrated guitars in the Epiphone lineup.
This Gibson Certified Vintage 1966 Epiphone Riviera is a standout example. Finished in Sparkling Burgundy, the guitar shows light playwear, even checking, and sun-fading along the back of the neck. It recently underwent a plane and re-fret at Gibson Repair & Restoration and now plays cleanly and effortlessly. A new bone nut was installed, and the 17th fret inlay appears to have been replaceddone well, with a slightly different material tone.
Loud, resonant, and visually striking, this Riviera is one of the most impressive guitars in the Certified Vintage collection.
This guitar comes with a vintage black and gray hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, Letter of Appraisal, and new Limited Lifetime Warranty.
